Rosso II 2025
A vibrant expression of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from the hills of Loreto Aprutino. Hand harvested at night, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and guided by a low-intervention approach that lets the season speak for itself.
Rosso II is our second expression of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from the 2025 harvest. Hand-harvested at night, the grapes underwent spontaneous fermentation through indigenous yeasts before ageing in stainless steel to preserve freshness, balance, and clarity.
Produced using the same low-intervention philosophy as our Rosso, it reflects a different moment within the harvest while remaining deeply connected to the same vineyard, vintage, and landscape.
A Note From the Vineyard
Rosso II was born from the final days of harvest. After completing our main Rosso pick, we returned to a warmer, south-facing section of the vineyard to harvest the remaining fruit. Rather than forcing every parcel into a single moment, we allowed the season to unfold at its own pace, embracing another expression of the same vintage.
In the Glass
Colour
Deep ruby red.
Nose
Dried tobacco leaf, bay, and Mediterranean herbs lead the aromatics, accompanied by ripe black cherry and plum. Gentle woody notes and hints of sweet spice emerge with air, giving the wine depth without overshadowing its freshness.
Palate
Generous and savoury. Fine tannins support notes of dark cherry, dried plum, tobacco, and subtle spice. A gentle roundness is balanced by fresh acidity, leading to a long, earthy finish that remains lively rather than heavy.
Food Pairing
Rosso II is a natural companion to the cuisine of Abruzzo. It pairs beautifully with arrosticini, homemade pasta with ragù, grilled lamb, roast pork, aged pecorino, and simple dishes built around mushrooms, legumes, and seasonal vegetables.
